The purpose of this research is to evaluate and investigate technology and identify the challenges and bottlenecks of technology in the non-metallic mineral industry in the industrial cities of South Khorasan province using Porter's value chain method. The reason for choosing this method to evaluate the technology of this industry is that it is comprehensive in examining the links of the value chain of industries and businesses. The speed of using this method is another reason for choosing it due to time constraints. The research method is descriptive-analytical and applied. The statistical population of the research included 30 non-metallic mineral industry experts and specialists active in the industrial units of South Khorasan province, who were randomly selected. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire containing 9 questions based on the Likert scale. Out of these 30 distributed questionnaires, 17 questionnaires have been completed despite the researcher's follow-ups and field visits to a number of relevant industrial units and interviews with a number of these industrial activists. Based on these questionnaires, the results indicate that the two links of technology development and input procurement (logistics) have been identified as defective links of the value chain. Therefore, by focusing on solving the problems of these two circles, an effective step can be taken to promote the non-metallic mineral industry of South Khorasan. Finally, some suggestions have been proposed to solve these obstacles and bottlenecks. The results of this research can be used in industry policies. Also, this research can lay the groundwork for further research in other industrial fields and in new geographical areas using more up-to-date and better methods.
